Tuesday: Ulpan (intensive Hebrew class). Learned the names of fruits.Wednesday: XC practice. One of my kids complained about having to learn keyboarding. I told him that if he learned to type without looking at the keys he would definitely get a girlfriend. I think he believed me for a second.
Thursday: Tutored my 9th grade Brit in mythology. She says funny British things like, "I just can't be bothered with ____." (Responses have included Israeli guys, soccer practice, and Biology homework on natural selection.) She goes to the 25+ clubs that I go to and lives in a ridiculous 13th floor penthouse apartment on the coast with a 270 degree view of the Mediterranean.
Friday: Tutored British tutee's visiting British friend. He wants to go to an American university like his dad because his dad told him that he'll be popular with the American girls because of his accent. Babysat another teacher's daughter, Fiona. We ate 300gr hamburgers, played gameboy and watched The Pink Panther. At the end of the night, Hellen locked us out of the apartment, locked her car keys inside.
Saturday: Was woken up by knocking. Stumbled over to the door in pjs with eye boogers to find some young male relative of my landlady asking to put ice in my fridge, who proceeded to invite me to have a drink at his sister's bat mitzvah upstairs later. Ran out to the cliffs by the beach and just sat watching the ocean for a good 90 minutes. Ran back, witnessed bat mitzvah preparations, headed out for a friend's apartment-warming party in Tel Aviv. It was a bunch of Israeli Brandeis grads, me and a bowl of extremely potent white sangria (blame/thanks was placed on/given to the Russian champagne). There were also brownies, which pretty much sealed the deal for me.
