Unfortunately, with an all volunteer service you get a lot of people who like the idea of fighting so they've got to be a little off. Not all, of course, but some, and those are the ones we hear about.
this is horrible and these men should be punished - without a doubt. but i am afraid that this happens much more frequently than we ever hear about with iraqi soldiers against their own fellow citizens. don't hand in your passport just yet.
