Nice long 4-day weekend this weekend. Thank God for American holidays.
Headed up to the Golan Heights with a few families from school. Stayed in cabins in the hills overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Enjoyed a couple wine tours and some excellent hiking. It was my first experience vacationing with small children. Wasn't so bad.
Yesterday, hung out in Tel Aviv. While eating out, my friends got a call from their fellowship coordinator.
"There's a high security alert in Tel Aviv. We're supposed to stay out of public places and buses."
Didn't think much of it. I've never known Israel without a security warning. However, this morning I saw this in the paper: "Cops thwart major suicide attack."
In other news, I've decided to stay in Israel another year. I'm coming to the States for a visit this summer end of June through mid July. My tentative travel plan includes stops in Michigan for the great Hart-Hammerle Extravaganza, MN to see the fam, NYC to see some beautiful faces and check out true American post-college life. Chances are good I want to see you, eat with you, and swap stories with you if you're in any of these locales. If I have left your summer location off my pit stop list, please submit a petition for inclusion on the itinerary.**
**Please limit suggestions to locations in the continental US. New Haven, CT, will under no circumstances be considered. Preference will be granted to those interested in eating Korean or Mexican food, of which Israel is tremendously lacking. Being my only acquaintance in a given location does not preclude you from addition. Being a random stranger does.
